snmp delta vbl1 vbl2

The snmp delta command computes takes two varbind lists and computes delta values for each corresponding element in the varbind lists.

The result is returned in a varbind list, which uses the pseudo data types “Delta32” for Counter32 values, “Delta64” for Counter64 values and “DeltaTicks” for TimeTicks values.

For example,

set a {{1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0 TimeTicks 4285807796}}
set b {{1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0 TimeTicks 4285808344}}
snmp delta $a $b
will return {1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0 DeltaTicks 548}.

The advantage of using the snmp delta command instead of the Tcl expr command is that the snmp delta does not depend on the word length of your computers hardware and is therefore much more portable.
